Rachel Davis

Rachel E. Davis (formerly Simmons) is currently a graduate student in the Clinical Psychology Doctoral program at the University of Nevada Las Vegas. She earned the Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology at UNLV where she graduated Magna Cum Laude in December 2004. Her current research interests include investigating multicultural issues inherent in resistance to therapy and designing culturally competent interventions, particularly in relationship to violence prevention and child maltreatment.

Mrs. Davis is currently working on her thesis which will investigate 1) whether African American mothers evidence differential levels of acceptance of or intention to attend parenting classes and 2) to gather information about parenting beliefs of African American mothers that may be relevant to designing future interventions or parenting classes.
