Academic History

 

Heidi is an Anthropology major with an associate of arts from Western Nevada Community College in Carson City, Nevada. She is a senior at UNLV, participating in research in both the Anthropology and Psychology Labs, and expects to graduate in May 2008

 

Research Interests

 

Heidi's interests include cross-cultural health, nutrition, and medicine as well as the associated behaviors. Specifically, she is studying gender and social inequalities in nutrition and health medicine, gendered reproductive health medicine and behaviors.

 

Research Labs

UNLV Maternal Health Lab

Currently, she is working in collaboration with fellow undergraduate student Chrisalbeth Guillermo researching the effects of hormones on mood and cognition, the possible interactions between oral contraceptives (OC) and the female’s natural hormones.

UNLV Human Behavioral Endocrinology Lab

Heidi is continuing her research in the study of hormones involved in Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS) and similar disorders, as well as their effects on female sexuality and behavior from childhood to adulthood.
